WASHINGTON — Flexing his clemency powers once again, President Donald Trump on Wednesday commuted the life sentence of a woman whose cause was championed by reality TV star Kim Kardashian West.

“BEST NEWS EVER!!!!” was the exuberant Twitter response from Kardashian West, who visited the White House last week to press the case.

Alice Marie Johnson, 63, had spent more than two decades behind bars, serving life without parole for drug offenses. She was released hours later and ran into her family members’ arms.

Michael Scholl, a member of Johnson’s legal team, said she was released just before 6 p.m. from federal prison in Aliceville, Alabama. Relatives were there to greet her as she experienced freedom for the first time since the 1990s.

Footage from local news station WVTM-13 showed Johnson running toward her family, throwing her arms wide-open and embracing them in front of a crowd of onlookers.

“Everybody was crying and hugging,” Scholl said.

Unlike a pardon, the commutation will not erase Johnson’s conviction, only end her sentence.

Scholl said Johnson would be returning to Memphis and was planning to spend time with her family. He earlier praised President Trump for “a courageous move” and described Johnson as overwhelmed by the news.

President Trump’s decision, his latest inspired by a celebrity champion, comes amid a flurry of recent pardons issued by the president. He says he’s considering a long list of other clemency actions for those famous and not, including former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who is serving 14 years in prison for corruption, and celebrity homemaker Martha Stewart, who served about five months for insider financial trading.

President Trump has been working outside the traditional pardon process usually overseen by the Justice Department, and has appeared to favor cases that catch his attention — either because they’ve been championed by friends and celebrities or conservative media. President Trump has also been drawn to cases in which he believes prosecutors may have been motivated by politics — situations that may remind him of his own predicament at the center of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian election meddling.

President Trump recently pardoned conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza, who was convicted of a campaign finance violation. And he granted a posthumous pardon to boxing’s first black heavyweight champion, which had been championed by actor Sylvester Stallone.

Some have seen the pardons as sending a message to former campaign aides now ensnared in the Mueller probe or other legal inquiries, including President Trump’s longtime lawyer and legal “fixer” Michael Cohen, whose finances are under federal investigation.

In an apparent effort to lobby her husband’s case, the wife of former President Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his Russia contacts, appeared on Fox News to talk about how committed he’d been to President Trump’s campaign.

“I trust and hope and ask to President Trump to pardon him,” Simona Mangiante Papadopoulos told President Trump’s favorite network.

Shawn Holley, Kardashian West’s attorney who accompanied her to the White House last week, said the reality star was the one who broke the news to Johnson on Wednesday in what she described as “the most wonderful, emotional and amazing phone call with Alice, Kim and Alice’s lawyers.”

“Once Alice’s family joined the call, the tears never stopped flowing,” Holley said in a statement.

Kardashian West described the moment via Twitter.

“Telling her for the first time and hearing her screams while crying together is a moment I will never forget.”

In a statement announcing the president’s decision, the White House said Johnson “has accepted responsibility for her past behavior” and has been a model prisoner, working hard to rehabilitate herself and serve as a mentor to fellow inmates.

“While this Administration will always be very tough on crime, it believes that those who have paid their debt to society and worked hard to better themselves while in prison deserve a second chance,” said a statement from the office of White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Lawyer Scholl praised President Trump for calling attention to the issue of drug crime sentencing, a system he said “is just broken.”

Attorney Brittany K. Barnett, another member of Johnson’s legal team, thanked President Trump in a statement that said: “Life in prison without the possibility of parole screams that a person is beyond hope, beyond redemption. And in Alice’s case, it is a punishment that absolutely did not fit the crime.”

She said Johnson felt overwhelmed with emotion and like she’s been “resurrected from the dead.”

Johnson was convicted in 1996 on eight criminal counts related to a Memphis-based cocaine trafficking operation involving more than a dozen people. The 1994 indictment describes dozens of deliveries and drug transactions, many involving Johnson.

Federal courts including the Supreme Court rejected her appeals. Court records show she had a motion pending for a reduction in her sentence, but prosecutors were opposed, saying the sentence was in accord with federal guidelines based on the large quantity of drugs involved.

Kardashian West expressed gratitude to President Trump, his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner and others. She said Johnson’s commutation “is inspirational and gives hope to so many others who are also deserving of a second chance.”

Her clemency had been rejected by President Barack Obama, who commuted the sentences of hundreds of federal inmates convicted of drug crimes.

Kardashian West visited the White House last month to meet with Kushner, who is overseeing the administration’s push to overhaul the nation’s prison system. She also met with President Trump in the Oval Office, a photograph of which the president posted on Twitter.

The decision to commute Johnson’s sentence was advocated by Kushner and President Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka. Others, including White House counsel Don McGahn and chief of staff John Kelly, were less enthusiastic, according to a senior administration official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

She met Nate McCoy while playing a local show and the band Darling Parade was later formed, with the addition of members Casey Conrad and Dustin McCoy. In 2009, Kearns moved to Nashville, TN to pursue music full-time. They released two EPs, landing placements on SyFy Channel's Stargate Universe, ABC Family's "The Lying Game", CW Channel's "Flygirls", and Showtime's "Shameless." The band’s success grew in 2011 with the release of the band’s third EP, “Until We Say It’s Over”, and landed the band the #8 spot on Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart. The first single “Never Wrong” received airplay on both MTVu and VH1. It also included, “Remember”, featuring guest vocals by Anberlin frontman, Stephen Christian. The spring of 2012, brought the band their first national tour with Cassadee Pope (Hey Monday, NBC’s The Voice).

Upon completing two additional national tours they returned back to the studio in Nashville partnering with Jon King of Page 2 Music, and released their first full length album “Battle Scars Broken Hearts” in 2013. They released their single "Ghost" on XM Radio's "Top 20 on 20" station followed by their single "Crash and Burn." That same summer they performed live at MTV’s O Music Awards in New York City where they took home the MTV and VH1's “Make a Band Famous” award. They later became MTV's Artist to watch November 2013, performing VMA week with Hot Chelle Rae, and Fifth Harmony. Darling Parade is currently featured in a nationwide Supercuts "Rock The Cut" Campaign airing on ESPN.

After touring most of 2014, Kearns is back in Nashville in between penning new music and returning to the studio with Darling Parade, she is currently performing acoustically at various wineries, live music venues, and weddings. She will soon be releasing her first acoustic EP in the spring of 2016.

Some decades ago the prospect of reaching the entire world with the gospel appeared very dim indeed. In a world population that was virtually exploding with growth, how could Christians begin to reach the billions of fellow humans? Then missionaries began mastering the multiplied languages on earth, placing the Bible on paper, making recordings of the gospel, and beaming the Word of God out on radio and television waves. A portion of the Bible was translated painstakingly into over a thousand languages. The entire Bible was translated into several hundred. There was reason to be hopeful. Missionaries taught nationals how to plant churches. Then nationals started planting churches, and churches begat churches . . . Bible translators had and continue to play a crucial role in the mission of reaching every people with the gospel, and this book describes how. Follow them into the fascinating, exciting world of Bible translation.

This book richly demonstrates how Bible translators wrestle to satisfy two priorities: staying true to the meaning of the original Greek and Hebrew Scriptures, and expressing that meaning clearly to speakers of amazingly diverse languages. It highlights a simple, yet profound truth: understanding God’s Word is key to knowing Him. While giving tribute to generations of Western translators, it also touches on the changing nature of the translation process, with mother tongue translators assuming more responsibility and multicultural teams working together to quicken the pace and quality of Bible translation.

Enthusiasm is absolutely necessary if you ever want to accomplish anything of value. You need a larger-than-life excitement in whatever it is that you are doing for it to be successful. You can amass incredible enthusiasm within your life, you simply have to follow through with the 10 methods I am about to discuss just below:

Be passionate You have to have a passion for what you are doing if you want to build enthusiasm for it. You need to be excited about it as you wake up in the morning and as you go to bed at night. This passion is what will keep your enthusiasm high, even during rough patches, which we all go through. Simply put, love what you do and enthusiasm will follow. You might want to read this great article I wrote C1RCA Mens AL50R Adrian Lopez Durable Cushion Sole Skate Skateboarding Shoe Black/White/Gum E355p
, as it can help you get the ball rolling as to figuring out what your ultimate passion really is!

Be passionate 7 Questions To Finding Your True Passion

Be grateful One of the ways that I build my enthusiasm with my work and my business is that I always remind myself everything that it has given me. I express gratitude for all that I have and this helps me become even more excited about what I’m doing. As we go through the daily grind, it is very easy to forget about all the little things that make our life easier and comfortable. Remember all the good things that you have going on in your life and be grateful for being who you are today. This is a wonderful method to create powerful enthusiasm in your life.

Be grateful

Be positive Enthusiasm cannot survive in a negative environment. If you always have negative thoughts and are always looking at the glass as half empty, you will find your enthusiasm dissipate very quickly. You need to be positive for your enthusiasm to thrive. Look at the silver lining. Look on the bright side of things. Take away positive lessons out of seemingly bad situations, and you will find yourself submerged by a wave of amazing enthusiasm that will help carry you along the way towards your goals.

Be positive

Be proud Whatever it is that you want to build enthusiasm for, make sure that you are proud of it. Talk about it with your peers, discuss it with your friends, and mention it to your family. Pride is very important to create lasting enthusiasm, as anything that is worth being proud of, is worth having enthusiasm for. Talking about anything that you are proud of builds a terrific excitement that only helps in the continuation of it in a positive direction.
